But is this Iron Man gonna outshine the original? Maybe. It all depends how much realism you can take in before you start crying. The movie centers once again around Tony Stark, the millionaire genius we know and love from the last movie. While Tony has the same witty&nbsp;personality, he has changed from big time hero to big time hero who is dying. That's right, Tony is slowly dying due to the high toxicity in his blood. Where the toxicity comes from is unclear, but meanwhile he has more to worry about. A new villain has risen, some Russian genius who just happens to be crazy called Whiplash. He has these really cool but dangerous electrical whips, and he also happens to know a thing or two about Tony's arc reactor( the little bright circle thingy in the middle of his chest that keeps him alive). Another new villain is Tony's rival defense weapons builder Justin Hammer. He eventually sees Whiplash's amazing technology, and appoints him to build bigger and better weapons for him to defeat Stark Enterprises. Meanwhile, Tony&nbsp; becomes reckless, and appoints his assistant Pepper Potts as CEO of Stark Enterprises. He also gets involved with S.H.I.E.L.D., an unknown&nbsp;branch of the&nbsp;military that wants to make Iron Man part of the Avengers ( all of this relatively unknown to Stark). SHIELD secretly places one of their agents&nbsp; as Stark's new assistant. Eventually, Stark holds a party and gets drunk. He tries to show off his Iron Man suit to the guests, but things get out of hand and eventually his best friend and military officer Rhodey steals one of the suits to stop Stark from killing anybody. Rhodey eventually gives the suit to the military, but is upset when he finds out Justin Hammer is behind the plan to take the suit from the military. The ending is long, so I won't write it down. This movie is good in a sense of what superhero movies can achieve. The cast does&nbsp; a wonderful job and Robert Downey Jr makes a huge comeback from his last few movies. Hint hint Sherlock Holmes. Mickey Rourke does a great job as Whiplash and Samuel L Jackson is terrific as Nick Fury form SHIELD. All in all, this movie is fun, smart, and funny, but can get slow in the middle of the movie. The realism of Tony dying and his best friend Rhodey betraying him is a little depressing, but the movie makes up for it with is great script. Overall, this movie gets 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. This movie was a great start for the summer&nbsp;movie season, and I am looking forward to more great films.MovieMan out.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/412115035204207609-7136636819852449069?l=moviemansrev.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid The Movie

Ok, I know the movie didn't even come out yet, but I wanted to do a small blog about the upcoming trailer. According to reelzchannel.com, they say that the trailer will come out next week. But luckily, they gave a detailed description of the actors in the movie. There is pretty much every character in the book. You got Greg, Rodrick, Mom, Dad, Rowley, Fregley,BUT no Manny?????? According to their description, there is to be no Manny in the movie. Manny is Greg's little brother and probably the funniest character in the book besides Greg. I don't know why there is no Manny, but I can assume they couldn't find someone young enough to play Manny. Anyway, the trailer comes out next week, so go to <a href="http://www.movies.yahoo.com/">http://www.movies.yahoo.com/</a> and check every day for the trailer.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/412115035204207609-4400693981010972256?l=moviemansrev.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

Year One: Not as Stupid as it Sounds

I assume you all heard that Year One is a box office bomb. Well... it was. The summer movie season of 2009 was not a festive one, because of all the box office bombs. And you all know which movies I'm talking about. But Year One is another story. Year One is about two villagers who ran away from their village because one of the ate the apple of knowledge. Zed(played by Jack Black) is a loser hunter. He ate the apple of knowledge and was forced out of the village. Oo(played by Michael Cera)&nbsp;is Zed's best friend, and like Zed, a&nbsp;loser. He accompanies Zed on his journey to find a new village to live in. On the journey, they encounter a few biblical figures, including Abraham and Issac, Kaine and Abel, and the city of Sodom. The story is a bit hazy, but you get the main point. You might be slightly offended because of all the bible and religious jokes, but I gurantee you will laugh a lot. I give this an overall 4 stars out of 5. It is a decent film and it might be a good choice for your next movie night.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/412115035204207609-6495871928717185967?l=moviemansrev.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

Glee: A Homerun for T.V. Networks

I know it's not normal for me to blog about a t.v. show, but I felt I should blog about this show because it's awesome. So basically, Glee is about the McKinnely High School in Ohio. It follows the life of basically every glee club member including the teacher, Mr. Schuester(a.k.a. Mr. Schue) Mr. Schue is a young spanish teacher who started the glee club because of his past experiences with glee. He holds open auditions and eventually gets the exact number of members to compete in nationals, a glee competition in which he has to win to keep the glee club going. There are and estimated 12 members or more. Finn is one of the center-of-the-stage characters in the show. He is a popular football player and joined glee because of his talented voice. He has a girlfriend named Quinn, the head cheerleader, who he knocked up on accident and Quinn was forced of the cheerleading squad because of her pregnancy. Rachel is a wannabe singing star who is always trying to get the lead role in every singing number. She is usually an annoyance to the glee club, but at times she can be helpful. She also has a major crush on Finn, but inside she knows it can't workout because of Quinn. Mercedes is a loveable person, who usually has the main singing role in mist of the R&amp;B numbers. She is constantly helping out the other members of the club and is usually involved in solving a problem. Artie is the handicapped glee member who is, like Mercedes, a problem solver, but due to his handicap, he needs to be constantly helped by other members, especially in music numbers. Kurt is the gay, yet reliable, member of the glee club. He and Rachel are major enemies, but at times help each other out. Kurt also has a crush on Finn, but knows it can't workout because Finn is not into men. Puck is Finn's best friend and teammate on the football team. Puck is also in the glee club and he is actually the father of Quinn's baby, but Finn doesn't know that yet. There are a few other members of the glee club, but they are minor characters most of the time. Terry is Mr. Schuester's wife, and she is a very tough person, yet loveable. Sue is the cheerleading coach and for an odd reason, an enemy of the glee club. She is a tough coach, and a town celebrity because of her winning streak in cheerleading competitions. Emma is the school counselor and a good friend of Mr. Schuester. She often helps him with glee club problems and she also has a crush on Mr. Schue. The show usually has at least 4 musical numbers in the show, and is praised for the wonderful music choices. The show is actually very realistic in the choices the characters make. Finn has to make choices between if he likes Quinn or Rachel. He always chooses Quinn because she is carrying his baby (or so he thinks). Quinn has to choose between Finn and Puck, the actual father of the child. She chooses Finn because he is loyal to her unlike Puck, who is sexting other cheerleaders. Mr. Schue has to choose between Emma and his wife. He always chooses his wife because he is a married man and he knows he can't go sneaking around with Emma. There is a secret between Mr. Schue and his wife. His wife claims she is pregnant, but really she isn't. Instead, she is going to keep Quinn's baby when the baby is born. Quinn has agreed to this because she feels she is too young to keep a baby. Until the baby is born, Terry has to wear a device that makes her look like she is pregnant. These choices and secrets keep the story going. Not to mention the amazing music. This show, is smart, witty, funny, and dramatic. That is what makes this show so good. I give it&nbsp;5 stars for everything. Finally, T.V. has created an original show.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/412115035204207609-1585135742088259109?l=moviemansrev.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://moviemansrev.blogspot.com/2009/11/glee-homerun-for-tv-networks.html' title='Glee: A Homerun for T.V. And with the holidays means presents, christmas trees, thanksgiving turkeys, and the latest Hollywood films. I have some high hopes for some movies like A Christmas Carol and The Men Who Stare at Goats. But there is one movie I don't have high hopes for. You guessed it, New Moon. It's not cause I'm a boy that I don't like it, it's cause it is naturally stupid. I mean, I get it, there is some story. But a good deal of it is Taylor Lautner taking his shirt off. I'm not saying they should stop making those movies. I'm just saying maybe they should release it some other part of the year, besides holiday season. Like A Christmas Carol can be released around the holidays because it's a holiday movie. But New Moon is not. See what I mean? Anyway, until next time, happy pre-holidays.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/412115035204207609-3800821917911053953?l=moviemansrev.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

Kiddy Movie or Lame Movie?

<div>So when you think of a kiddy movie, what first comes to mind? Dragons? Unicorns? Wise-cracking animals? Magic rocks? How about the word "LAME"? Recently, they have released some really lame kiddy movies. G-Force, Shorts, and some others. You know, a few years back, they used to make amazing kid movies like, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Shrek, and others. Sure, they are animated but that;s a good thing right? I mean lately, it's like Hollywood doesn't even know what appeals to kids. So here is my hypothesis. See, when Hollywood starts making more rated R movies (mentioned in a previous article) they pay more attention to what adults want than kids. So they decide to do two things. Make a lame movie about talking hamsters and make it 3-D. They think that if it's in 3-D, it will make the movie good. WRONG, WRONG, AND WRONG AGAIN. Now that may work with kids age 3 to 7, but where does that leave the rest of us? Listen, I won't criticize Hollywood for everything, but for this it has to be said. MAKE BETTER KID MOVIES. Well, you'll get your answer soon enough. Zombieland is about four human survivors in a world run by man-eating zombies. The story is narrarated by Colombus(Jesse Eisenberg) a phobic(he fears a lot of weird stuff)&nbsp;college student who carries around a double barrel shotgun and a list of rules on how to survive Zombieland. These rules are often mentioned in the movie. Colombus meets Tallahassee(Woody Harrelson), a tough, dangerous, zombie killing redneck who agrees to take Colombus to his destination in his huge Cadillac. (Colombus lost his car to the zombies)&nbsp; They soon meet Wichita(Emma Stone) and Little Rock(Abigail Breslin) two sisters who end up stealing Tallahassee's car and taking their weapons. Luckily, Colombus and Tallahassee soon find a Hummer with keys and lots of weapons. Then they set off to find the Cadillac and get revenge on the sisters. They soon find the Cadillac but end up getting taken hostage by the two sisters. They all soon agree that they will stick together until Pacific Playland, an amusement park rumored to be zombie-free. The gang eventually finds themselves liking each other and when they get to California(where Pacific Playland is located) they take refuge in Bill Murray's house. They soon go to Pacific Playland and have an all-out battle with the zombies. I won't spoil the end, but if you want you can just go ahead and see the movie yourself. Now that you have waited so long, I will explain the title. Most of you probably saw Scary Movie or its sequels. Well, in a way Zombieland can be similar to those movies. 1. Zombieland is considered a spoof of many famous zombie movies, similar to Scary Movie being a spoof of horror movies. 2. There are more laughs that frightning moments in this movie also similar to Scary Movie. But there are many differences too. 1. Zombieland has a plot and sticks to that plot. Sometimes Scary Movie has a basic plot, but veers of story to make a joke. 2. Zombieland is naturally funny, and not just jokes about Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse. Scary Movie is hilarious, but most of the humor is just making fun of celebrities and stuff like that. Anyway, as far as ratings go for story it gets 5 moviereels out of 5. The story is awesome and it doesn't veer off in a different direction. For acting it gets a 4 1/2 moviereels out of 5. All the actors were great, especially newcomer Jesse Eisenberg. For special effects it gets a 5 moviereels out of 5. Zombies looked amazing and scary, just like a real zombie. Overall, this movie gets a 5 moviereels out of 5. Amazing movie, wouldn't change a thing. It is of course rated R, only because of gore and language. They do use the F word a few times and the zombies are very gory. It is for kids around 12 and up. And I promise you, it is not very scary. I hate scary movies and I loved this. Other than blood dripping out of the zombies mouth, nothing scary about it. Movieman out.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/412115035204207609-7473078168198876325?l=moviemansrev.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

Bruno, You Are Really Gay

<div align="left">Bruno. What can I say about Bruno. How about disgusting? Revolting? Surprising? Sick? Funny? These are just some of the words that can describe thee movie Bruno. Now, I will tell you this now so you know before seeing it. It was rated NC-17. But the producers cut a few scenes from the movie, and it is now on the verge of being NC-17. If you are uncomfortable seeing gay people having sex and other revolting things, do not even get close to this movie. It has everything a movie about a gay guy should have, and more. Now, as far as taking kids, you might as well take them to see porn if you show them this movie. Anyone under 15 should not see this movie. I am not even gonna tell you the story because the story is also quite strange. I think Sacha Baron Cohen took it way too far this time. I am not saying it isn't funny, because it is extremely funny. Just highly inappropriate. great movie for adults, bad movie for kids. As far as ratings go, for acting it gets a 5 moviereels out of 5. Sacha Baron Cohen played Bruno so well, that next time you see him on T.V. you might ask yourself if he cut his hair and dyed it black. For story, it gets a 4 moviereels out of 5. I have to say the story is original, but at times revolting. And on a scale from 1 to 10 for hilarity, it gets a 9 1/2. Very funny, besides the gay sex. And overall, it gets a 4 moviereels out of 5. I enjoyed it and laughed a lot, so it won't hurt to pay 9 bucks to see this movie. But again, as said in my previous article, this movie, as funny as it is, is rated R. But then again, it has a reason for it. Hey, if a movie with gay sex and really bad language would be rated PG, then Hollywood has gone bonkers. Movieman out. be sure to check out my new Youtube series Pip! </div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/412115035204207609-5558718256401592119?l=moviemansrev.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

R for Retarted

Lately, every good movie is rated R. Every hilarious comedy is rated R. Every breathtaking action-adventure movie is R. Every horror movie is R. And you know what R means. No children under 17 allowed unless accompanied by an adult or guardian. Well, how many adults are gonna take you to Funny People, The Hangover, Inglorious <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">Basterds</span>, or I Love You Man and the list goes on. I am downright tired of it. You see, here's what it narrows down to. Hollywood is made up of an adult and children audience. Now, lately the adult <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-error">attendence</span> rate has gone down. So in order to fix that, Hollywood makes more rated R movies. The top movie rating adults attend is R. Why? Because that means there is sure to be very few kids there. And also because adults know that R means it is their kind of movie. So where does that leave kids? Right at the PG rating where all the movies about talking animals and magic rocks lay. And yes I'm talking to you Shorts and G-Force. So to fix the problem, Hollywood should cut the crap. Here are some steps to fix the problem. 1. If you make a <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_2" class="blsp-spelling-error">kiddy</span> movie, make it worth 9 bucks. Sure Shorts will appeal to little kids, but where does that leave the kids 10-13? Nowhere. Make something that will appeal to everyone. 2. For all the rated R comedies, cut the constant sex. It doesn't make the movie any funnier. Now, if the movie is about someone getting pregnant, or about someone on their honeymoon, you have an excuse. But for I Love You Man, the story has nothing to do with sex, so why put it in? And Funny People had way too much, considering the fact it didn't need it to make it funny. 3. The cursing has got to stop. I mean, I'm not saying you can't say a few words every now and then, but some movies use curse words in every sentence. Just like sex, cursing does not make the joke any funnier. Use them when needed. Following these steps will not only help Hollywood gain more attendance, but will also increase the rating for the movie by critics. So in a way it's a win-win situation. Don't waste a second. Get in there and make some movie magic!<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/412115035204207609-4162993852889091683?l=moviemansrev.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

Funny People, Well sort of

When Funny People came out, my friends were excited. I mean very excited. Some went the very first night. Some told their parents they were going to G-Force, but instead bought a ticket to Funny People and told their friends to do the same. Funny thing was, my dad asked me if I wanted to go to 7:00 showing. I agreed and we left. First off, this is not a big comedy. I know what it says in the title, but the reason it's called Funny People is because it's about comedians. It's mainly about a man named George [Adam Sandler] a famous comedian who finds out he has a disease similar to lukemia. The doctor tells him he can die from this, so as more of a last stand he starts doing stand-up comedy again. He decides to hire a young, not-so-funny comedian named Ira [Seth Rogen] to write jokes for him and to be a caretaker for him. Ira comes to live with him in his mansion, leaving his roommates behind. One of his roommates has a t.v. show, Yo Teach, which is often mentioned in the movie. Ira soon becomes very good at stand-up and he and George get many offers from around the country. Soon, George finds out that he isn't sick anymore and he tells all his celebrity friends including Ray Romano, M&amp;M, the rapper, and even some comedian friends. Then, he decides to talk to his ex-girlfriend and soon visits her and her family with Ira. George finds out his ex-girlfriend still has feelings for him, and that she is going to divorce her husband. I'm not gonna spoil it, but the end is very good. To all Adam Sandler fans, as good as this movie was, this is not his usual wacky character. He is very dramatic as well as funny, but if you're expecting another Waterboy you're in the wrong theater. As far as ratings go, for acting this gets 5 moviereels out of 5. The acting was superb, especially Sandler and Rogen. For storyline, it gets 4 1/2 moviereels out of 5. I must say very original, but was stretched out a little too much. And overall, it gets 4 1/2 moviereels out of 5. This movie is worth 9 bucks. But to all kids under 14, this movie has some sex scenes and most of the movie the word "fuck" is used. To all parents, you should probably talk to your kid about if he's comfortable watching sex or hearing bad language. If your kid is uncomfortable, I reccomend to see G.I. Joe or something. If your child is okay with it, still think before taking him or her. The sex scenes are only a minute long, but you see the real action. Movieman out. At first, people were anxious and excited to see this movie. The 12:00 midnight showing was a full house, as I heard. But slowly, this movie stopped gaining <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">interest</span>. Why? That is a big question. Well, let's start from the <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_2" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">beginning. First off, this movie is frightening for a PG movie. I assume at first parents thought this would be more of a childrens movie than the other two PG-13 movies. But actually, the movie had just about the same fright and monsters and mature problems. I bet if you took a seven year old kid to this movie, he would probably beg his parents to leave. It is scary at times, especially at one point but I don't want to spoil it, so I won't say. Another defect is already said in the title of this entry. Harry is getting old. When we first saw Harry in the first movie, he was a bright and happy boy. And now he is always getting mad at his friends and acting like a jerk to everyone, even to Dumbledore. I bet it's just horomones, but seriously. His friends risk their lives for him in every movie and he still treats them like crap. I just don't get it. And the last defect is that they take out many parts that made the 6th book good. They even took out the apparation test, which was a great part in the book. Don't even get me started on the insanely short battles. So ratingwise, for story it gets a 3 1/2 moviereels out of 5. The story lacked a lot and didn't have enough of the 6th book put in it. For acting, it gets a 4 1/2 moviereels out of 5. It did have great actors and actresses, and they all did their part well. For special effects, it gets 4 out of 5. Not enough special effects, but good when they were there. And overall, it gets a 4 moviereels out of 5. Not the best Harry Potter, but very easy to follow. That's a good thing. MovieMan out.</span><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/412115035204207609-8716765444838347129?l=moviemansrev.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

Ice Age 3 or Dinosaurland?

Look, it's hard to say whether the movies was enjoyable or not. Sure, the 3-D was great, but when it comes to jokes, it's like a 6 year old wrote it. There were a few chuckles here and there, but nothing to serious. I mean, the story is really just about the whole Ice Age gang on a rescue mission to save Sid the Sloth from a huge man-eating dinosaur. They also get extra help from more of a <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">raccoon</span> kinda thing who knows where to find Sid. If you are young, you will love it. If you are 13 and up, you may wanna shoot yourself before it's over. If you see it in 3-D, you might pass on the whole suicide thing just to see the great 3-D effects. But seeing it in 2-D, like I said, the suicide thing might go faster with popcorn in your mouth. Of course, effects may vary. So ratingwise, for story this movie gets 2 moviereels out of 5. The story was lacking a lot of things. Don't even get me started. For special effects. it gets 4 1/2 moviereels out of 5. Great effects, just a little too many. For acting, it gets a 4 1/2 moviereels out of 5. I have to admit it had great voice talent. And overall, it gets 3 1/2 moviereels out of 5. It could have been better.
