Iron Man 2 Gets 2 Realistic
So we all know Iron Man 2 will start off the summer movie season, and what better way is there? 2008 started off the Iron Man movie franchise, and now we are ready for the sequel. But is this Iron Man gonna outshine the original? Maybe. It all depends how much realism you can take in before you start crying. The movie centers once again around Tony Stark, the millionaire genius we know and love from the last movie. While Tony has the same witty personality, he has changed from big time hero to big time hero who is dying. That's right, Tony is slowly dying due to the high toxicity in his blood. Where the toxicity comes from is unclear, but meanwhile he has more to worry about. A new villain has risen, some Russian genius who just happens to be crazy called Whiplash. He has these really cool but dangerous electrical whips, and he also happens to know a thing or two about Tony's arc reactor( the little bright circle thingy in the middle of his chest that keeps him alive). Another new villain is Tony's rival defense weapons builder Justin Hammer. He eventually sees Whiplash's amazing technology, and appoints him to build bigger and better weapons for him to defeat Stark Enterprises. Meanwhile, Tony becomes reckless, and appoints his assistant Pepper Potts as CEO of Stark Enterprises. He also gets involved with S.H.I.E.L.D., an unknown branch of the military that wants to make Iron Man part of the Avengers ( all of this relatively unknown to Stark). SHIELD secretly places one of their agents as Stark's new assistant. Eventually, Stark holds a party and gets drunk. He tries to show off his Iron Man suit to the guests, but things get out of hand and eventually his best friend and military officer Rhodey steals one of the suits to stop Stark from killing anybody. Rhodey eventually gives the suit to the military, but is upset when he finds out Justin Hammer is behind the plan to take the suit from the military. The ending is long, so I won't write it down. This movie is good in a sense of what superhero movies can achieve. The cast does a wonderful job and Robert Downey Jr makes a huge comeback from his last few movies. Hint hint Sherlock Holmes. Mickey Rourke does a great job as Whiplash and Samuel L Jackson is terrific as Nick Fury form SHIELD. All in all, this movie is fun, smart, and funny, but can get slow in the middle of the movie. The realism of Tony dying and his best friend Rhodey betraying him is a little depressing, but the movie makes up for it with is great script. Overall, this movie gets 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. This movie was a great start for the summer movie season, and I am looking forward to more great films.MovieMan out.
